So, this blog post is really late for this month and I honestly didn't notice, I doubt anyone else did either. However, this month has been one of the craziest of my life {my mom may beg to differ}. But since the last post, I have started my second semester at KU. I'm really enjoying what I have been studying and everything else that has been going on, lets begin:
Thursday Jan. 22 - No I did not go see Obama when he came to campus. However, I was driving by when they loaded him into his armored truck, so I guess you could say I saw the president.
I also had my first meeting with the Freshman Leadership Council (FLC) which was a lot of fun and I am learning a lot about myself and my capabilities as a leader. *Speaking of Obama*
Saturday Jan. 25 - As everyone one of the my recent blog post mentions, I am still working with the Douglas County Special Olympics, one of my opportunities this month was the chance to take the olympians and meet the KU Men's Basketball team, which was amazing. The athletes rotated from station to station and practiced drills and even had little competitions with the players - while they rotated I took pictures with the players. It was an amazing opportunity and I really enjoyed everything that day had to offer.
Tuesday Jan. 27 - I found out that my pledge uncle Nick will be interning because he's a hot shot architect student and worked really hard! So congrats Nick! Also, D.C. certainly does have cheesecake and Starbuck, that was the first concern before I knew the location.
Wednesday Feb. 4 - Delta Delta Delta finally got new members for me to assistant-new-member-educatorate! We added three girls and they are so much fun to work with and educate! DLAM
Sunday Feb. 8 - Was the birthday of my best friend and dearest rival, Jessica Brummel! Sorry I couldn't see you!
Thursday Feb. 12 - I met with a group of over 24 amazing greek freshman, we got together to talk about what it is like to be in the greek community in an effort to link the greek sorority houses together. It was fun and gave a better look at life at the other houses and interesting things that they have planned for the next semester.
Friday Feb. 13 - The Douglas County SO cheer and basketball got to participate at the Lawrence Freestate game, the cheerleaders got to cheer alongside the Freestate cheerleaders and the basketball players got to play at half time with students as the refs. Again, I love all of the support the community has for their amazing SO program and I'm so thankful to be a part of it!
Saturday Feb 14 - For Valentine's Day, all I wanted was to lay in bed with Chandler, watch the projector, and eat Chipotle. Needless to say, Valentine's Day was perfect! Thanks boo!
Sunday Feb. 15 - Tri Delta had their officer retreat. It was cool to hang out with other people in Delta and talk to them about their position and just get a better feeling for what goes on behind the scenes.
Tuesday Feb 17 - I had my first job interview since arriving to Lawrence! Wait for it.....
Thursday Feb 19 - I drove down to pick up mom from a procedure. Chandler and I now really enjoy Monopoly Millionaire and of course Toys R Us!
Sunday Feb 22 - The Douglas County Special Olympics played in their first basketball tournament of the year. I coached Jayhawks 4 who came away with a 3rd place medal and the cheer team who came away with a gold medal in their division. I have far too many stories to share on this blog, but if you really want to hear them, call me, beep me, message me, etc.
Monday Feb. 23 - The world's best big planned an amazing philanthropy event for St. Jude's Reseach Hospital: "Mac Madness." A ton of people came to the Delta Shelta to eat Noodles & Co Mac N Cheese and watch KU basketball. Sucky as it is, KU lost to KState. But the Mac N Cheese was good and the profits were awesome, so thanks to everyone who came, and a huge shout-out to Allison!
That brings us to today:
Tuesday Feb. 24th - Woke up this morning for a job shadowing at the hospital. Hope you're still waiting....
One of Allison's presents for big appreciation week came in (I really hope you are reading this, if not, I'll know) ;)
I got to serve my first patient today - still waiting...
Ate Chipotle
Went to FLC.
David called! I GOT THE JOB!
Ate Chipotle for dinner,
Did math homework.
Getting ready to go to Delta for some studying.
Overall this month has been crazy, but I have learned to function under the madness. I have also decided that along with this month blog, I am going to start posting about random things and ideas. I watched a friends vlog yesterday and I am interested in trying different blogging.
So, until next month...
I love you
