Late Notice

So, this post is a little later than a month. My bad! But to explain how busy I have been is like explaining how the pyramids were built. So here we go:

There has been a lot of chapter meetings, leadership council meetings, new member meetings, jr greek meetings, and officer council meetings. Aside from those activities:

3/6 - I got to take the new member to Rock Chalk Revue (a series of skits put on by KU's greek community). I also learned what a "dad bod" was during this time. You could say it was useful knowledge.

3/9 I got hired onto to work at Lawrence Memorial Hospital as a Guest Service Representative. Girl gotta make some money!

3/11 Met with my new neurologist. Going throwing some medical testing, initial diagnoses is a "functional disorder". And recieving treatment for that. Also had my math midterm- that went awful.

3/12 Got the flu from the flu shot. SHWEET!

3/13 Made it home to LBG. Did my laundry rapidly. Packed for CO.

3/14 Embarked on the 12 hour journey to beautiful CO with Chandler, his family and his friends. We even got a chance to catch the end of the KU game in the car.

3/15 First day of skiing! Ski school was awesome - they let me graduate! Then I tried to go down the mountain, I think it may have been fun(ny) for those around me, it was very stressful for myself. But with John and Gina's help I made it down the mountain. And I got a blistering face sunburn - who would have thought? A sunburn in the snowy mountains.

3/16 Went skiing with "the moms" & Clayton. I got better.

3/21 Returned home from CO. Did a lot of laundry.

3/22 Finished laundry. And came back to LFK.

3/24 My first day at the hospital! Worked from 7am to 1 pm. Now a working girl.

Also got to meet the Provost of the University of Kansas. It was a great experience and he shared a breath of knowledge with the students at the outting.

3/25 Got the chance to support my favorite philanthropy in the world - St. Jude - at a Buffalo Wild Wing percentage night. Wings and helpin' kids, could it get any better?

3/26 Went to listen to a campus speaker talking about the drinking culture at KU and how we go about fixing the issue within it. It interesting and intuitive.

3/28 First 12.5 hour day at work. Walked 8.5 miles. And served over 30 patients. My total hours this week was 31... Busy kid.

3/31 Present my Capstone Project at the FLC meeting. I got to share my experience and what I learned from FLC and to any high school senior reading this, it's a great program to get involved with. There is q lot to learn about leadership and yourself in leadership roles as well as about yourself as person.

4/2 Delta Delta Delta welcomed the recruits from Spring 2015 into the sisterhood!

Now that we are all caught up - time to catch some sleep so I can get ready for the adventures that lie ahead for this month!

Love you,

Maddi

MADNESS - & it's not even March

So, this blog post is really late for this month and I honestly didn't notice, I doubt anyone else did either. However, this month has been one of the craziest of my life {my mom may beg to differ}. But since the last post, I have started my second semester at KU. I'm really enjoying what I have been studying and everything else that has been going on, lets begin:

Thursday Jan. 22 - No I did not go see Obama when he came to campus. However, I was driving by when they loaded him into his armored truck, so I guess you could say I saw the president.

I also had my first meeting with the Freshman Leadership Council (FLC) which was a lot of fun and I am learning a lot about myself and my capabilities as a leader. *Speaking of Obama*

Saturday Jan. 25 - As everyone one of the my recent blog post mentions, I am still working with the Douglas County Special Olympics, one of my opportunities this month was the chance to take the olympians and meet the KU Men's Basketball team, which was amazing. The athletes rotated from station to station and practiced drills and even had little competitions with the players - while they rotated I took pictures with the players. It was an amazing opportunity and I really enjoyed everything that day had to offer.

Tuesday Jan. 27 - I found out that my pledge uncle Nick will be interning because he's a hot shot architect student and worked really hard! So congrats Nick! Also, D.C. certainly does have cheesecake and Starbuck, that was the first concern before I knew the location.

Wednesday Feb. 4 - Delta Delta Delta finally got new members for me to assistant-new-member-educatorate! We added three girls and they are so much fun to work with and educate! DLAM

Sunday Feb. 8 - Was the birthday of my best friend and dearest rival, Jessica Brummel! Sorry I couldn't see you!

Thursday Feb. 12 - I met with a group of over 24 amazing greek freshman, we got together to talk about what it is like to be in the greek community in an effort to link the greek sorority houses together. It was fun and gave a better look at life at the other houses and interesting things that they have planned for the next semester.

Friday Feb. 13 - The Douglas County SO cheer and basketball got to participate at the Lawrence Freestate game, the cheerleaders got to cheer alongside the Freestate cheerleaders and the basketball players got to play at half time with students as the refs. Again, I love all of the support the community has for their amazing SO program and I'm so thankful to be a part of it!

Saturday Feb 14 - For Valentine's Day, all I wanted was to lay in bed with Chandler, watch the projector, and eat Chipotle. Needless to say, Valentine's Day was perfect! Thanks boo!

Sunday Feb. 15 - Tri Delta had their officer retreat. It was cool to hang out with other people in Delta and talk to them about their position and just get a better feeling for what goes on behind the scenes.

Tuesday Feb 17 - I had my first job interview since arriving to Lawrence! Wait for it.....

Thursday Feb 19 - I drove down to pick up mom from a procedure. Chandler and I now really enjoy Monopoly Millionaire and of course Toys R Us!

Sunday Feb 22 - The Douglas County Special Olympics played in their first basketball tournament of the year. I coached Jayhawks 4 who came away with a 3rd place medal and the cheer team who came away with a gold medal in their division. I have far too many stories to share on this blog, but if you really want to hear them, call me, beep me, message me, etc.

Monday Feb. 23 - The world's best big planned an amazing philanthropy event for St. Jude's Reseach Hospital: "Mac Madness." A ton of people came to the Delta Shelta to eat Noodles & Co Mac N Cheese and watch KU basketball. Sucky as it is, KU lost to KState. But the Mac N Cheese was good and the profits were awesome, so thanks to everyone who came, and a huge shout-out to Allison!

That brings us to today:
Tuesday Feb. 24th - Woke up this morning for a job shadowing at the hospital. Hope you're still waiting....
One of Allison's presents for big appreciation week came in (I really hope you are reading this, if not, I'll know) ;)
I got to serve my first patient today - still waiting...
Ate Chipotle
Went to FLC.
David called! I GOT THE JOB!
Ate Chipotle for dinner,
Did math homework.
Getting ready to go to Delta for some studying.

Overall this month has been crazy, but I have learned to function under the madness. I have also decided that along with this month blog, I am going to start posting about random things and ideas. I watched a friends vlog yesterday and I am interested in trying different blogging.

So, until next month...

I love you
Maddi

New Year! New Sleep Schedule!

With 2014 solidly closed, it's now time to take on all the exciting new adventures that lie ahead of me for the next year.

But 1st. The last month in review...
I finished finals and ended my first semester of college with a 3.49, which is higher than I believed!

Dad & I drove to Omaha to see my grandma and grandpa Majeski.

My mom and I flew to AZ to see my big sister. While there we went to a cowboy cookout in the middle of nowhere (it was supposed to be a sleigh ride, but there was no snow). We also went to TOP Golf (lots of fun, definitely recommend trying that). And Hot & Juicy (a crawfish boil).

On New Years Eve, Chandler and I didn't see a ball drop, instead we were staring at Pitbull's sweet yacht!

I watched multiple movies, including; Selma, Interstellar, and Gone Girl. They were all amazing, but Selma was my favorite for sure! Even had me all teary eyed!

I went through some medical testing after blood work showed my white blood cell count was low. The doctors concluded that I just had a lower white blood cell count slightly out of the normal spectrum.

And to finish out winter break, Chandler and I went and saw the Harlem Globetrotters at the Sprint Center! It was so much fun! They are so entertaining, no matter what the age!

This post would be super interesting, but just getting back from Winter break and trying to write about what I did the whole time, I didn't do much... I'M SO EXCITED TO BE BACK!

In the next year:

I'm incredibly excited for this semester to start:
I will begin my path toward the MCATS and taking math classes again.
I get to see all of my amazing sisters and friends from Lawrence!
The suite got to welcome a new roommate.
I declare my minor within the next couple months.
I go to Disney World after finals!
I attempt to workout once in a while/ hopefully at least twice a week! (being a college kid is hard!)

That is all I have this month! Next month will have more information for you, this is has been a very relaxed month.

i love you guys!

Final Chapter of 2014

This month has been seemingly less exciting, filled with a lot of study and practicing. But there have also been some big discussions - we will get to those.

I sent out over 50 Sincerely Yours letters. Thank you to everyone who has donated. It's an amazing place to utilize your giving spirit!

The Give Thanks Annual Walk, was another St. Jude activity. There were a ton of TriDeltas that met at Power  & Light in Kansas City. We cheered on participants as they walked for cause!

After The Give Thanks Annual Walk, I met Mom, Aunt Megan, Luke, and Luke's friend at Lego Land. P.S. You can't get into LegoLand unless you are young or with a child. So, that was awkward. After LegoLand we went to Crown Center for the Crayon Restaurant (I know, 'why not Fritz's?' because the line.)

For Thanksgiving, I got to go to one of the most beautiful places in the continental U.S., the Ozarks. We watched the Macy's Day Parade, the dog show, and listened to grandpa snore.

The weekend after Thanksgiving, Mom and I went to the Plaza to do a little shopping and then to P&L to watch my favorite Christmas tradition, A Christmas Carol. Mom and I caught a taxi to take us to the production, it dropped us off about a block and half from our hotel, we ran up to the box office, we were just in time to see them closing down the ticket office, we had gone to the wrong location. SO we ran back to the hotel, caught a different taxi, I had to pull up the location on the GPS, it took us back to the Plaza and to the UMKC campus. We ran inside just in time to catching the beginning of the play. The production was amazing, a good round house production for the holidays! We attempted to find a way out of the UMKC and after waiting 30 minutes for a cab, we decided to ask for help. The lady we asked help from ended up driving us back to our hotel! It was an adventure. (That story may have been funnier in real life).

studying, studying, studying.....

Chandler and I got to get all dress up and fancy for Tri Delta's Semi Formal Semi Real Fake New Years party. We went out to our favorite Mexican restaurant and sat with some of our favorite people. We got the venue and ate a little more, followed by some intense breaking in the of the dance floor (dancing). Nick got a little crazy out there.

study.study.study.study.study.study.study.study.study.study.study.

'Twas the night before Stop Day and all through the town, there were girls out a partying and boys out a watching. But amidst all the crazy was a pledge family dinner, all cooked and prepared by Nicolas Faust. I'm done with the weird story telling now. But it really was a lot of fun. We all sat down to a nice little dinner, a 'clean' game of Never Have I Ever and a some Cards Against Humanity.

Now, as mentioned news! This timeline now brings us up to date, FINALS WEEK. I don't have an 'final exams' and most of the grade are already determined. I am fairly certain that I will end this semester with a 3.36, which keeps my cumulous GPA at 3.3. (Not as high as I was hoping for, but I learned more than just class material this semester like 1) go to class 2) go to lab 3)set an alarm for the same time every day 4) go to class 5) probably go to class.

Next news, next semester when I come back to campus I will be a member of the KU Freshman Leadership Council, this is a group of 25 students that submitted applications and were selected by a committee. We will meet once a week and attend leadership conferences and skill building workshops. I am incredibly excited to learn more. Next semester I will continue as the Assistant New Member Educator for Delta Delta Delta, I may even get a chance to help some new girls! I am incredibly excited for all of the positive things coming way. I will also be back at the Special Olympics again, this time as a coach for the Douglas County cheer squad as well as one of the basketball teams. This has become a huge passion and I love working with these amazing people. There are so many things that you don't understand about working these this group of people that everyone needs to know. I would love to talk to anyone interested in learning more or anyone wanting to get involved with the Douglas County Special Olympics! But along with this news, I have made some important discussions and done some planning.

Next semester I will begin my long and difficult trek toward becoming a neurologist. I have decided to study behavioral neuroscience while completing KU's recommended pre-medical classes. I will take the M-CATS the summer before my senior year. Along side of my discussion to major, I have selected a minor, I will apply for my minor Spring of 2015, in Applied Behavioral Sciences. I am also hoping to finish my KU Arts Certification, which I have already started (as well as my minor). I am 3/12 hours into my Arts Certification and, at the end of Spring 2015, I will be 9/18 hours into my minor. Thank you family, friends, and advisors for your help in helping me make a decision on where I want my future to go!

As always, thanks for reading. I love y'all and I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

(Future) Dr. Maddison Majeski

P.S. I may or may have an end of the year post, depending if I am feeling postie or not!

Crazy Times!

Wow, this month has been absolutely nuts. I'm going to try really hard not to forget about anyone this time, especially Allison and Nick! *Can't get scolded now! :)*

I guess the best place to begin is the beginning;

IT'S OFFICIAL, I'M A FULL MEMBER OF DELTA DELTA DELTA!
I am so grateful to be sisters with the most amazing group of girls in the entire world! And to have the opportunity to support the most amazing philanthropy around, St. Jude Research Hospital. *Side note: please get me your address, I am required to send 40 letters on Friday the 21st and need your help. Thank you!*

The next day, I got the chance to hang out with the world's best gbig as she celebrated her 21st birthday! Happy Birthday Chelsea - like along time ago, but this is the first blog since then. WHOOP WHOOP!!

I left her birthday before too many shenanigans so that Chandler and I could drive to Manhattan Kansas to celebrate the return of Ben Power from the Marines. It was so much fun to see all of our friends from K-State! And congrats Ben, who is already back out in San Deigo. And I got to see my absolute favorite person in the whole wide world, Jessica Brummel!
Later that night, or really early the next morning, Chandler drove us back to Lawrence. So we could wake up and drive to KC for the KC Metro Special Olympics Volleyball Tournament.
This was an amazing experience! I got the chance to coach Jayhawks #1, where I got to coach along "Bird" who is one of the assistant coaches for KU Volleyball! The team did really well and played really hard and came way with the win!

Somewhere in the middle of all of this craziness, I started to get sick and was in some pain, so after Allison took me to the doctor multiple times, they decided to treat me for shingles. That was an awful time!

This puts us to the time of Halloween. Chandler and I had our first date party! We dressed up and went as Blue and Steve from Blue's Clue. Why? Because I didn't think I could get Chandler to dress up as anything more elaborate. The best part of that night though is that fact that Chandler now can wear my letters!

How about them Royals? Chandler and I spent each night of the World Series intently watching with his grandparents, when during game 6 I was notified that we would not be watching from the couch, but from a much colder and more exciting place! We were given the amazing opportunity to cheer on the Royals at the Game 7 of the 2014 World Series! We dressed in all the Royal's gear we had and cheered the whole way there! Even  on the way home, after the loss, we were excited. Chandler framed our tickets that night as not to crease them.

A very special man in my life, got to return to a Tri Delta function after all of these years! My dad got to come down and escorted me to a hearty helping of BBQ followed by a daddy daughter dance. Where we dresses as the decade: Cool. -Just ask dad- it was awesome to have him come and celebrate with me!

Not only did this month bring the birthday of my gbig and Adam Daugherty, but me as well! I got to celebrate my 19th birthday with an amazing group of people! It was great to get to see everyone and I had an amazing time with all of you! Thank you everyone for making that day so special! And thank you Allison for driving back from you Ultimate Tournament to surprise me, consider me surprised! And thank you Nick for the card that I will treasure forever!

If you are still reading this you can tell just how busy I have been, don't worry, I even have more for you to read! Hang in there!

On Friday the 14th, I got to spend the day with the more inspirational group of people. I ventured back to Okun Fieldhouse and got to coach the Douglas County Special Olympics Volleyball team at the Kansas State SO Tournament! I little tangent here; thank you Mrs. Waymire (if you are reading this) for inspiring and distilling this value in me to want and need to help others. Your passion of the Special Olympics and helping others has taught me to care for all kinds of people. I thought about you as I drove to the tournament, knowing that I was making you proud! The teams would go on to take 3rd, 4th, and I believe 1st. It was the most rewarding experience of my life and I can't wait to work with everyone again for cheerleading and basketball season in January.

NOW; SOME REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY BIG NEWS!
I have some REALLY BIG NEWS!

I have been selected by my sisters to serve as the Assistant New Member Educator for the Theta Omega Chapter! I am so excited, I can't wait to see what is in store for me!

Thanks, as always, for reading, you have almost made it to the end.
Just a little p.s., please send me addresses,
NO REALLY, SEND ME ADDRESSES FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
IT ALLOWS CHILDREN WITH CANCER TO RECEIVE TREATMENT, ESPECIALLY IF THEIR FAMILIES CAN'T AFFORD IT!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

I love you all,
Maddi Majeski

Second Month as a College Kid

This post is coming a day early - sorry about that - but tomorrow at this time I will be celebrating with my pledge class as we finish initiation into Delta Delta Delta - Theta Omega Chapter.

This last month has gone by crazy fast. I'm not even sure I know where to begin; however I believe a good place to start would be homecoming.

As many of you saw on my Facebook, Delta Delta Delta partnered with ATO to create the 2014 Homecoming Dream Team. We worked hours and hours pomping (if you don't know what that means, congratulations) as well as assembling a float for the parade, one in which Rob Riggle appeared in. The Dream Team came away with wins in the events through out the week but the last day after making calculations of exactly how many points we needed to seal the deal, the pressure was on for the float. Saturday, during the half time of the football game (yes, KU has a football team) they announced the winners. I was screaming from the shaded section of the stands, no one else had any idea what was going on it but it was an amazing experience. Also, I am getting a sweatshirt out of the deal.

Recently, practice has begun for the Douglas County Special Olympics Volleyball (GO JAYHAWKS 1!). Our first games are this Sunday in KC, Kansas at 10:45. We have been working on passing, setting, and spiking and I can't wait for our fans to see all the hard work the team has been doing.

I love when people come to see me! Rachel came to Lawrence a couple weekends ago and it was great to catch up with her and spend time showing her how the better school does things! (: Side note: I know a lot of seniors are approaching the time where they have to choose which college they want to spend the next four+ years, I would love to show you around KU or meet you for lunch!

Perhaps the most MAJOR moment of this month was when Chandler and Brad (his roommate) came to unloft my bed! DEAR ALL STUDENTS PLANNING DORM ROOMS, YOU WANT YOUr BED UNLOFTED! My finger nail is still healing from the process but I am now free to sit on my bed and study.

Next item to discuss is the bed... When loading up my sheets for washing during fall break, Chandler found a bug. The kind of bug that little kids think you make up, college kids hope to never find, and parent hope to never deal with. BED BUGS! Or so we thought, the exterminator came and found out that we were not dealing with bed bugs, we were dealing with its cousin the BAT bug. Either way they both still bite and sleep with you at night.

Chandler and I celebrated our four years together! It's a long time, we know. I also got the chance to participate in what Chandler believes to be his first time carving a pumpkin. Both pumpkins are on display outside of his home on Illinois Street - look for them, they are great.

As mentioned in last month's post, school is also an important part of college - who would have thought! Tonight, I was looking at my grades and decided to figure my G,P.A. At this point in the semester I have a 3.6 GPA, with my lowest grade being an 87%. With that in mind, I have also decided to challenge myself to strive for a major I had been contemplating but ultimately decided it would be too challenging. But with the support of those around me and those who care for me I have decided to attempt to gain entrance into the Behavioral Neuroscience program. This discussion comes from the phrase "for this class this is all you need to know." I finally asked one the teachers how I learn about these things that "I don't need to know" and he told me that was a neuroscientists' job. So down that path I will try to venture.

And as always here is a forecast for the next month:
BEN COMES HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GBig's 21st birthday celebration! (Happy birthday Chelsea!)
Old Maid - Wait until you see Chandler and I's costume
Halloween (Obvi!)
Dad's Weekend - Where dad and I will break it down on the dance floor
My 19th birthday!
And another blog post!

Love you all,
Maddi Majeski

The First Post

I am creating this blog as a way to allow my friends and family to keep up with what is going on in my crazy college life.

As I'm sure you all can tell by the crazy amount of pictures I have uploaded lately, I am currently attending the University of Kansas as a Jayhawk. I am currently studying speech, language and hearing. I am also seeking a second major, currently leaning toward applied behavior sciences. If you are wonder, like my mother, why I am thinking about ABSC I will tell you; after completing the curriculum here at KU for their undergraduate degree you are able to take the national certification test to become an assistant behavior analyst (yes Uncle Andy, I know that this is on the condition that I study and pass the test). This career can be very rewarding in itself and can also help pay for graduate school, while I pursue my hopes of become a speech pathologist (this is subject to change I understand).

As many other pictures will inform you, I am also a new member of Delta Delta Delta - Theta Omega Chapter here at KU. I love the house that I am in and the girls are amazing. After receiving my bid card, the group of new members ran to a bus where we danced our way down Oxford St. before arriving at the Delta Shelta. A little over a week after that day, I was given my Big Sis. (Again, I'm sure you have seen the pictures).

I am also recently signed up to be assistant for the Douglas County Special Olympics Volleyball team - I can't wait to get started on that. I have been participating in a research study that requires me to push colored buttons, and I have recently signed up to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity here in Lawrence, KS.

Since I am here for schooling, I guess I could tell you about how that is going. Today was my very first test, if it was good you probably hear about it in another post. I have been taking a ton of quizzes. Many of which I have received 100% (studying does help, but so does open-note quizzes). I have been reading about all kinds of interesting things across my five classes (Physics of Speech, Intro to Child Development, Intro to ABSC, Language and Mind, Acting 1). My scene partner and I have been working on our atude for acting class and I have been studying like a mad woman for the tests I have this week.

This weekend is parents weekend, I can't wait for that. However, I will be missing Louisburg homecoming and all of my friends that are visiting home from K-State. But on the 21st KU starts its kick-off events for Homecoming, where Delta Delta Delta will be teamed up with ATO to take down the other Homecoming teams. (P.S. If you are reading this and have old t-shirts, jackets or blankets please send them to me, I'll give you my address at the end).

I do believe that is all that has happened this month.

Here is a list of the last couple months:
May 17th- Graduation (followed by trips to Mexico and Florida)
June 17th- Orientation for KU (signed up for all of my classes)
July 17th- Hanging on to summer as long as I could and working
August 17th- Move-in to the Dorms
September 17th -Here we are.

I love getting mail, No matter what it is. Send me things at:
