This post is coming a day early - sorry about that - but tomorrow at this time I will be celebrating with my pledge class as we finish initiation into Delta Delta Delta - Theta Omega Chapter.
This last month has gone by crazy fast. I'm not even sure I know where to begin; however I believe a good place to start would be homecoming.
As many of you saw on my Facebook, Delta Delta Delta partnered with ATO to create the 2014 Homecoming Dream Team. We worked hours and hours pomping (if you don't know what that means, congratulations) as well as assembling a float for the parade, one in which Rob Riggle appeared in. The Dream Team came away with wins in the events through out the week but the last day after making calculations of exactly how many points we needed to seal the deal, the pressure was on for the float. Saturday, during the half time of the football game (yes, KU has a football team) they announced the winners. I was screaming from the shaded section of the stands, no one else had any idea what was going on it but it was an amazing experience. Also, I am getting a sweatshirt out of the deal.
Recently, practice has begun for the Douglas County Special Olympics Volleyball (GO JAYHAWKS 1!). Our first games are this Sunday in KC, Kansas at 10:45. We have been working on passing, setting, and spiking and I can't wait for our fans to see all the hard work the team has been doing.
I love when people come to see me! Rachel came to Lawrence a couple weekends ago and it was great to catch up with her and spend time showing her how the better school does things! (: Side note: I know a lot of seniors are approaching the time where they have to choose which college they want to spend the next four+ years, I would love to show you around KU or meet you for lunch!
Perhaps the most MAJOR moment of this month was when Chandler and Brad (his roommate) came to unloft my bed! DEAR ALL STUDENTS PLANNING DORM ROOMS, YOU WANT YOUr BED UNLOFTED! My finger nail is still healing from the process but I am now free to sit on my bed and study.
Next item to discuss is the bed... When loading up my sheets for washing during fall break, Chandler found a bug. The kind of bug that little kids think you make up, college kids hope to never find, and parent hope to never deal with. BED BUGS! Or so we thought, the exterminator came and found out that we were not dealing with bed bugs, we were dealing with its cousin the BAT bug. Either way they both still bite and sleep with you at night.
Chandler and I celebrated our four years together! It's a long time, we know. I also got the chance to participate in what Chandler believes to be his first time carving a pumpkin. Both pumpkins are on display outside of his home on Illinois Street - look for them, they are great.
As mentioned in last month's post, school is also an important part of college - who would have thought! Tonight, I was looking at my grades and decided to figure my G,P.A. At this point in the semester I have a 3.6 GPA, with my lowest grade being an 87%. With that in mind, I have also decided to challenge myself to strive for a major I had been contemplating but ultimately decided it would be too challenging. But with the support of those around me and those who care for me I have decided to attempt to gain entrance into the Behavioral Neuroscience program. This discussion comes from the phrase "for this class this is all you need to know." I finally asked one the teachers how I learn about these things that "I don't need to know" and he told me that was a neuroscientists' job. So down that path I will try to venture.

The First Post
I am creating this blog as a way to allow my friends and family to keep up with what is going on in my crazy college life.
As I'm sure you all can tell by the crazy amount of pictures I have uploaded lately, I am currently attending the University of Kansas as a Jayhawk. I am currently studying speech, language and hearing. I am also seeking a second major, currently leaning toward applied behavior sciences.If you are wonder, like my mother, why I am thinking about ABSC I will tell you; after completing the curriculum here at KU for their undergraduate degree you are able to take the national certification test to become an assistant behavior analyst (yes Uncle Andy, I know that this is on the condition that I study and pass the test). This career can be very rewarding in itself and can also help pay for graduate school, while I pursue my hopes of become a speech pathologist (this is subject to change I understand).
As many other pictures will inform you, I am also a new member of Delta Delta Delta - Theta Omega Chapter here at KU. I love the house that I am in and the girls are amazing. After receiving my bid card, the group of new members ran to a bus where we danced our way down Oxford St. before arriving at the Delta Shelta. A little over a week after that day, I was given my Big Sis. (Again, I'm sure you have seen the pictures).
I am also recently signed up to be assistant for the Douglas County Special Olympics Volleyball team - I can't wait to get started on that. I have been participating in a research study that requires me to push colored buttons, and I have recently signed up to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity here in Lawrence, KS.
Since I am here for schooling, I guess I could tell you about how that is going. Today was my very first test, if it was good you probably hear about it in another post. I have been taking a ton of quizzes. Many of which I have received 100% (studying does help, but so does open-note quizzes). I have been reading about all kinds of interesting things across my five classes (Physics of Speech, Intro to Child Development, Intro to ABSC, Language and Mind, Acting 1). My scene partner and I have been working on our atude for acting class and I have been studying like a mad woman for the tests I have this week.
This weekend is parents weekend, I can't wait for that. However, I will be missing Louisburg homecoming and all of my friends that are visiting home from K-State. But on the 21st KU starts its kick-off events for Homecoming, where Delta Delta Delta will be teamed up with ATO to take down the other Homecoming teams. (P.S. If you are reading this and have old t-shirts, jackets or blankets please send them to me, I'll give you my address at the end).
I do believe that is all that has happened this month.
